Create Excel files from text/html files and Libreoffice

I wrote on article on  '' detailing how true Excel files can be created using legacy systems.

In the case of this article the legacy application is filepro generating the data.  However, the application used to generate the text/html file involved is besides the point -- text/html files (whatever generated them) can be easily converted to true Excel (xls/xlsx) files.  Ignore the 'filepro' parts --- think of your legacy application instead.

Please take a look at the article!

The article details converting html files into xlsx format.  Obviously these files will not contain any Excel formulas.

Should you want to convert your data file to Excel format and add Excel formula's  I suggest looking at Perl extension Spreadsheet::WriteExcel
